Abstraction

Foyer, National Gallery of Australia

Designed in the Brutalist architectural style, the angular structure of the NGA is based around the triangular form. This manifests itself most strikingly in the triangular grids of the gallery's ceilings. I'm not a big one for monotonous patterns, but whenever I'm at the NGA I always find myself looking up.

For a moment I thought this would be where you'd store your bottles of wine :)

Cool! That's always my intention with shots like this: a different perspective on something we already know so well.

Surely they are not cameras up there! If not, what are they?

Looking up is always a good move ...

I think they're floodlights, or something of the lighting variety - this is outside in front of the entrance.

I've visited that gallery lots of time and I don't think I've ever noticed the ceiling!

I didn't notice it for the longest time Joan, but as soon as I did, I couldn't stop.

A good idea to look up and see what is overhead. This is quite the cool surreal find!
