Everything old is new again

Having the distinguished honour of being the oldest building in Canberra (being built in 1913), the now refurbished Kingston Powerhouse is home to a dedicated contemporary glass arts centre. The strikingly atmospheric building ebbs seamlessly between its historic industrial architectural features and the contemporary art it houses. Especially comforting on cold, windy winter mornings!

That's a marvellous blue sky. Really sharp image and good to see old and new can sometimes be married so well.

Thanks. It was such a perfect freezing & sunny winter day, just right for a clear sky.

You learn something new every day! Awesome shot!

Me too! For an old building it's not very old - it's the same age as my gran! Light was crazy-amazing that day, all I had to do was point and shoot, didn't really have to do much!

I didn't know this place existed. Since I love glass I will definitely add it to my list to visit when I am next in Canberra.

I didn't either. Stumbled upon it entirely by accident. So glad I did though!

What a interesting looking building - reminds me Davey Jones from "Pirates of the Caribbean".

Ah, I think I can see what you mean. It's definitely a striking building, very imposing too, but in an impressive as opposed to an oppressive way.
